Components of Recovery: For this assignment you are going to create a personal slideshow using PowerPoint. Your slideshow must include appropriate text and graphics to support your recorded narration (ADD PRESENTER NOTES)
1) Comprehensively review all of the 10 Components of Recovery.
2) Then, select FIVE components and explain how each component is important in relation to employment. Keep in mind the Hope, Change, and Recovery lesson to conceptualize these components in the context of working with these components of recovery in relation to a case study you will build throughout this course. We will be creating a composite of a client with whom we will be working for the final assessment, so- put some thought into a diagnosis, experience, vocational rehabilitation context, etc.
*Please remember, a case study is a fictional client – do NOT use real clients information or any identifying data as that directly violates HIPAA Privacy Rules.
Be sure that your explanation of the five components includes the name of the component, an explanation/definition of what the component is, how it relates to work.
In this particular milestone, you will want to relate the FIVE components that you have chosen briefly to how your client is either using them or should be guided to use them in their recovery/treatment process.
You may want to begin to think about the ‘readiness ruler,’ motivation to change, prevalence, barriers, diagnostics/symptoms, resources, bio-psycho-social schemas, well-being, or other fictional traits to compose your composite client for your final assessment. Begin to explore how specific diagnoses / symptoms may impact (create a BARRIER) related to vocational goals. Remember, BARRIERS are specific to the ENVIRONMENTS in which those BEHAVIORS need to happen.
When thinking about and building your case study, please think of a physical or mental diagnosis that you have either not worked with before or have seen before. Practicing and researching diagnosis outside of the usual Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) or Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) can be helpful in truly grasping the different treatment modalities and needs of clients. Every diagnosis comes with it’s own subset of physical and mental barriers, and every individual’s socio-economic and psychosocial reactions to those barriers are different, so it would be great practice to begin thinking about the holistic aspects of an individuals ability to survive and thrive based on their diagnosis and the accommodations/treatments they are supported with.
